Plitvice National Park is the most famous tourist attraction in Croatia. Over time, mineral-rich waters of Plitvice Lakes produce many series of lakes, waterfalls and caves such as travertine natural structures form continuously within. This is normal, because the lakes are situated in a limestone region. The continuous process of formation of travertine as the passage of time has created a magnificent view on the site, making it a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979.
Plitvice National Park consists of 19.5 acres of a series of lakes, waterfalls and forests. Several animal species can be found there including the European brown bear, eagle, wolf, owl, bobcat and many more. The forest is also rich green forests, such as the Mediterranean vegetation and the Alps, in addition to the flora are commonly found. There are three hotels in Plitvice Lakes, and numerous private accommodation available in local villages. Entrance fee is around 55 to 100 kuna for adults depending on the season. The price for tickets are cheaper for children and the discounted price is applicable for a group of fifteen people or more.
